Land Rover hits six million cars landmark

Land Rover has built its 6,000,000th vehicle, and the manufacturer has marked this achievement by rolling out a more unique example of its latest Range Rover.

Land Rover is celebrating a new landmark achievement, with the company having built its 6,000,000th vehicle.

This achievement has been made at the Jaguar Land Rover production plant in Solihull, West Midlands, where the majority of current Land Rover products are built.

The landmark car was built earlier this month and is a long-wheelbase Range Rover in Vogue SE trim, finished with a Yulong White paint job. To signify its landmark status, Land Rover has installed a unique feature into this particular car, a bespoke puddle lamp graphic.

This illuminated graphic, which references Land Rover’s production landmark, is projected through a magnifying lens onto the ground every time the vehicles is unlocked. The same graphic was previously projected on the wall of the Solihull manufacturing plant, on the very day the landmark Land Rover rolled off the production line.

At the Solihull plant, the current Range Rover is built alongside the Range Rover Sport, plus the Land Rover Discovery and Defender. Meanwhile, the popular Range Rover Evoque is built at a different plant in Halewood, Merseyside. The all-new and upcoming Land Rover Discovery Sport will also be built at this particular site.

The Director of Group Sales Operations for Jaguar Land Rover, Andy Goss, commented on Land Rover’s production landmark. He said: “For 67 years Land Rover has been building the world's most capable all-purpose vehicles.

“It’s fitting that the 6,000,000th Land Rover to be produced is a Range Rover, since this year marks the 45th anniversary of the original Range Rover’s launch and even today, the vehicle remains peerless.”

The 6,000,000th Land Rover is being delivered to a Chinese customer, but it will be put on display by its makers at this week’s Shanghai Motor Show.
