Limited edition Audi R8 V10 Plus Selection 24h unveiled

Audi has unveiled a new special edition version of the R8 V10 Plus supercar as a tip of the hat to the marque’s considerable motorsport success.

Paying homage to the R8 GT3 car that claimed victory in no less than 323 overall wins, the Selection 24h is a sporting-inspired special edition, which will be limited to just 24 models worldwide.

The most immediately apparent change over the regular R8 V10 Plus is the car’s tricoloured paint scheme, which has been designed to closely mimic the appearance of its GT3 racing counterpart.

It also features a glossy carbon fibre finish for the front spoiler, mirror housing and engine compartment cover, while the distinctive sideblades, rear wing and diffuser get the same treatment.

The black theme continues with black trimming for the standard sports exhaust system which amplifies the R8’s signature V10 soundtrack, and also for the 20-inch forged aluminium alloys.

Motorsports-inspired special edition

As standard, the V10 Plus Selection 24h also gets Audi’s magnetic ride adaptive dampers, laser lights and an exclusive interior that sports glossy carbon detailing and a unique serial number for each car.

Given that the latest-gen Audi R8 was developed in tandem with the R8 LMS GT3 racing car, even the standard car shares much of its DNA with the GT3, not least with its powertrain.

Interestingly, the racing R8 is actually 25bhp less powerful than the road-going model, thanks to race regulations, and the special edition shares the same 602bhp 5.2-litre V10 as the regular R8.

The Selection 24h’s powertrain remains untouched over the regular version, but it still maintains the same brutally intoxicating performance, dispatching the 0-62mph sprint in just 3.2 seconds with 205mph top speed.

Priced from £180,448, the limited-edition Audi R8 V10 Plus Selection 24h is available to order now, but you’d best be quick on your feet to get one before they’re all snapped up.
