Limited-run MINI Convertible Sidewalk Edition revealed

The new version is based on the Cooper S, with just 150 coming to the UK.

MINI has unveiled a new limited-edition version of its Convertible offering unique interior and exterior upgrades.

Just 150 of the new MINI Convertible Sidewalk Editions are coming to the UK, all based on the Cooper S and featuring a 189bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired to a seven-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.

The model comes painted in a unique shade of Deep Laguna Blue metallic paint, while also getting bonnet stripes as well as ‘Sidewalk’ badging. The fabric roof also comes with an ‘Arrow’ design on its roof, while new 17-inch alloy wheels also feature.

The personalisation also extends to the cabin, as it comes with new grey leather seats with blue and yellow detailing. A new sports steering also features along with an illuminated gloss black dashboard.

Elsewhere the Sidewalk Edition bundles in other usually pricey optional extras – including a Harmon Kardon sound system, a head-up display, switchable drive modes and a wind deflector.

The model also comes with an upgraded 8.8-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation and real-time traffic information, wireless charging, heated seats, and front and rear parking sensors.

The Sidewalk Edition is only the second limited-run version of the facelifted MINI Convertible – the previous model, debuting in 2018, was a special version celebrating 25 years of drop-top MINIs in the UK.

Prices for the new version start from £34,215, with order books now open. MINI says that production of the model is set to start in March 2020.
