The e+ joined the Leaf range in 2019 as a model offering a large 62kWh battery (the regular version has a 40kWh powertrain) – meaning it can travel for 239 miles between charges, rather than 178 like the standard version. However, since launch it was only available in a pricey Tekna grade.
Until now, that is, because Nissan has introduced a limited-edition N-Tec trim to the EV – helping to make the price of the E+ substantially more affordable. Just 1,000 versions of the grade will be produced, and it’s based on the N-Connecta trim of the standard Leaf.
This means it comes with an around-view monitor, part-leather heated seats and an eight-inch touchscreen to name but a few features, though the N-Tec does add various other bits of equipment. Highlights include the semi-autonomous ProPilot semi-autonomous driver assistance tech, LED headlights and metallic blue detailing, which is a staple on the E+.
The N-Tec is available from £32,795, including the government grant, which represents a £3,100 saving on the Tekna – missing out on a Bose sound system and Ultrasuede seats to name bit a few features.
James Bird, electric vehicle product manager at Nissan UK, said: “Nissan is always looking to bring its advanced technologies to customers at ever-more accessible levels. So, we’re delighted to be introducing the N-TEC edition of Leaf+, which strikes a fantastic balance of price, performance and specification.See available LEAF deals
“With the rapid uptake of electric vehicle sales in the UK, this new limited edition should make it even more compelling for drivers to make the switch as we accelerate towards a zero-carbon future and cleaner air for all.”
