Margot Robbie joins Nissan as electric vehicle ambassador

Margot Robbie, known for starring in films including Wolf of Wall Street and Suicide Squad, is the new face of Nissan's electrical vehicles after taking on an ambassadorial role for the brand.

Nissan has a new face for its electric vehicles as the actor Margot Robbie has joined as the manufacturer’s official EV Ambassador.

The Australian film star has had a rapid rise to fame in recent years thanks to appearances in films including The Wolf of Wall Street and Suicide Squad. With that in mind, her arrival could be considered a major coup for Nissan.

To mark her new ambassadorial role, Robbie has appeared in a newly released online video showing her driving Nissan’s BladeGlider, a futuristic and fully-electric sports car concept. The video depicts Robbie racing another BladeGlider around the same streets used for the Monaco Grand Prix circuit.

The Nissan BladeGlider, which will make an appearance at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show next month, produces 268bhp from its electric motors and can sprint from zero to 62mph in less than five seconds.

The BladeGlider, which will reportedly reach production later this year, also comes with a drift mode, which is briefly demonstrated in the new video featuring Margot Robbie.

Commenting on her new role, Robbie said: “It’s a really exciting time for electric vehicles. More people are choosing to go electric, leading the way to a more sustainable future and the Nissan BladeGlider hints at the future of smarter performance cars.”

Nissan’s director of Electric Vehicles for Nissan Europe, Gareth Dunsmore, said: “Having Margot on board will support us in spreading news of the personal and societal benefits of electric vehicles to more people than ever before.”
