The superhero craze is showing no signs of slowing down, and Hyundai’s here to cater to fanatics in the new car market with this — the Hyundai KONA Iron Man Edition. Inspired by Tony Stark’s alter-ego, Hyundai has pulled out all the stops to honour the world-saving (but sadly fictional) billionaire.
Based on the regular KONA SUV, it comes with extensive visual upgrades to give it that Iron Man look. Immediately catching the eye is a grey and red colour scheme, with a huge decal of the character’s helmet appearing on the roof. Marvel branding appears on either side of this special edition Kona, along with Stark Industries logos — referencing Tony Stark’s huge company.
Bespoke 18-inch ‘Grip’ alloy wheels with Iron Man centre caps feature too, as do custom door puddle lights.
There’s a similar makeover in the cabin too. There’s an ‘Arc Reactor’ graphic found on the gear selector, in the instrument cluster and on the infotainment system — reminiscent of the character’s signature chest plate — while Tony Stark’s signature features on the dashboard.
Powering the KONA Iron Man edition is Hyundai’s 1.6-litre, 175bhp engine that drives the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. There’s a good helping of equipment too, with keyless entry, LED headlights, climate control, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist and rear cross-traffic alert all offered.
Now on sale, the Hyundai KONA Iron Man Edition starts at £27,995. Act fast though, as only 300 examples are available.
