Mazda 3 Sport Black Edition gets April launch

Mazda 3 is expanding its hatchback range this April with the launch of the Sport Black Special Edition

The latest Mazda 3 range is introducing a new special edition model called the Sport Black Edition. Available exclusively for the hatchback body style, this car goes on sale in Britain from April 1st and is priced at £20,995.

Though it may be launching on April Fools’ Day, this car is no joke as it is based on the existing, range-topping Sport Nav trim and adds extra kit and some exclusive exterior design highlights.

Exterior updates

Unique design touches introduced by the Sport Black Edition includes 18-inch Dark Gunmetal alloy wheels and a Brilliant Black Sports Styling Kit. The latter gives the Mazda 3 sportier side skirts, a front splitter, a redesigned rear bumper and a roof spoiler to make the whole car look more like a hot hatch than other specifications.

Even though this special edition Mazda 3 has ‘Black’ in the name, the two paint colours available for the body are Snowflake White Pearlescent or Soul Red Metallic.

Interior and engine

The interior of the Mazda 3 Sport Black Edition features exclusive black half leather/half suede seats. Other standard equipment includes a BOSE Surround-Sound System, reversing camera, keyless entry, dual-zone climate control and Mazda’s MZD-Connect system with a 7-inch colour touchscreen and integrated satellite navigation.

Powering the Mazda 3 Sport Black Edition hatchback is the car’s existing 2.0-litre SKYACTIV petrol engine with 119bhp and mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. With this powertrain, the special edition Mazda 3 does zero to 62mph in 8.9 seconds, emits 119g/km in CO2 and returns an official combined fuel economy of 55.4mpg.

Anyone interested in this special edition Mazda 3 should act quickly as only 800 examples will be sold in Britain.
