Mazda announces new special edition MX-5 R-Sport

Just 150 versions of the limited-edition sports car will be available

Mazda has announced a new special edition R-Sport version of its popular MX-5 roadster.

Limited to just 150 examples, the R-Sport versions comes with unique touches – including its 16-inch Rays alloy wheels, grey fabric hood and a new Polymetal Grey colour that was introduced as part of the latest model year updates.

It also features gloss black door mirrors, as well as burgundy Nappa leather seats in the cabin.

This new R-Sport is available exclusively with the MX-5’s less powerful 130bhp 1.5-litre petrol engine. A 181bhp 2.0-litre unit is available on other trims, however.

This new limited-edition version is based on the ‘Sport’ trim level – the highest grade available on this 1.5-litre unit. Standard equipment includes smartphone mirroring, heated seats and keyless entry to name but a few.

The new R-Sport model is available now, with prices starting from £27,700 – a £1,600 increase over the regular ‘Sport’ trim. Customers can register their interest via the Mazda website, with customer deliveries set to begin once dealers are able to reopen.
