The softer cruising version of the sports car can now be specced to feel like the more honed 570S, with five other design packs now available.

British sports car manufacturer McLaren has announced a new Sport pack for the 570GT – the most road-focused vehicle they currently offer.

At a premium of £4,900, customers can spec the package which makes the car stiffer and feel similar to the 570S Coupe and Spider models.

If selected, McLaren will apply calibration changes to the chassis and fit the same steering rack, damper actuators and uprights to match the setup of the 570S. Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tyres will also be fitted.

Another offering for the GT is the new electrochromatic roof option that can be controlled by the driver to change the opacity of the glass.

Jolyon Nash, McLaren Automotive executive director for global sales and marketing, said: “The changes for 2018 make every model in the range even more compelling; customers attracted by the McLaren blend of lightweight, carbon fibre construction and mid-mounted, twin-turbocharged V8 engine combining to deliver thrilling performance, can now choose from an even wider range of colours, materials and features.

“Additionally, with the new 570GT Sport Pack, we have reacted to market requests for a 570GT with the driving dynamics of the 570S Coupé. This optional handling package gives the same chassis setup as the Coupé, while retaining the luxurious features, luggage space and looks of the 570GT.”

Five new design packs are also on offer for the 570GT, with McLaren taking inspiration from popular customer combinations to come up with these special options.

The McLaren 570GT has a starting price of £157,000.
