McLaren posts record sales year in 2017

British supercar manufacturer McLaren posted a record 2017, with a 23 per cent increase in sales, despite less new car registrations across the UK.

McLaren posted a record year in 2017, with both new and used car sales increasing.

The British supercar manufacturer saw sales go up 23 per cent last year over 2016, selling 3,340 vehicles globally in 2017. Of those, 550 were delivered to UK customers.

Alongside this, the pre-owned vehicle arm of the brand — McLaren Qualified — sold 240 cars in the UK, a 143 per cent year-on-year growth.

McLaren currently has six dealerships across the country, with two more set to be introduced later in 2018 due to high-demand.

David Gilbert, managing director for McLaren Automotive Europe, said:

“I would like to congratulate McLaren Automotive’s entire UK-based retail network for defying the market trend and helping the brand achieve record sales overall in 2017.

“This achievement is a real testament to the hard-work, professionalism and dedication of our retailers, and I look forward to working with them as we unveil exciting new models this year and beyond.”

McLaren currently offers five regular production cars — the 570S, 570GT, 540C, 570S Spider and 720S. The brand is also known to produce limited-edition vehicles on occasion, such as the upcoming Senna hypercar, which is limited to 500 vehicles worldwide.
