McLaren unveils daring new 675LT JVCKENWOOD concept

McLaren has teamed up with Japanese electronics conglomerate JVC Kenwood to unveil an innovative and futuristic new concept car, the 675LT JVCKENWOOD.

Based on the McLaren 675LT Coupe, the concept celebrates the 25th anniversary of JVC Kenwood and McLaren’s Formula One partnership and features a range of new and exciting technologies.

Ditching the standard interior of the 675LT, the concept model instead comes with a minimalist cabin focused on weight saving and upholstered in black Nappa leather.

Jet fighter-style HUD

The usual centre console and air conditioning units have both been removed altogether, swapped out in favour of an all-digital HUD and a unique carbon fibre vent that directs air onto the driver.

JVC Kenwood's jet fighter-style HUD displays speed, revs and other driver information directly on the windscreen in place of an instrument cluster, making the traditional dials redundant.

Other high-tech features include two cameras mounted on the sides and rear of the body in place of wing mirrors and a rear view mirror, which cuts down weight and improves aerodynamic efficiency.

Finishing touches come courtesy of orange anodised vertical strakes by transmission tunnel, plus further orange accents on the racing seats and the same steering wheel as the P1 GTR hyper-hybrid.

0-62mph in just 2.9 seconds

On the outside, the already dramatic exterior of the 675LT Coupe is untouched, save for the door-mounted camera blades and exclusive JVC Kenwood silver racing stripes on the bodywork.

Under the bonnet, the 675LT JVCKENWOOD likewise remains unchanged from the ‘standard’ version, with the same 666bhp 3.8-litre turbo V8 that can take it from 0-62mph in just 2.9 seconds.

Unfortunately, due to the fact that it’s a one-off concept, there are no plans to put the 675LT JVCKENWOOD into production, but it’s currently on display at this year’s CES show in Las Vegas.
