Meet the Lotus 3-Eleven, Britain's 453bhp cruise missile

Lotus has officially launched its fastest-accelerating sports car ever, the £82,500 3-Eleven, which is as fast as a LaFerrari.

Available in either Road spec, or the slightly pricier £116,500 Race version, Lotus’ latest missile is powered by a 3.5-litre Toyota V6, with a 404bhp output for the Road model and 453bhp for Race.

The lower-output model gets a six-speed manual gearbox, while the latter comes with a six-speed sequential racing transmission and a limited-slip rear differential is standard across the range.

Built from an aluminium-intensive spaceframe body coupled with ultra-lightweight composite panels, the 3-Eleven weighs just 890kg and is capable of rocketing from 0-62mph in just 2.9 seconds.

Limited to only 311 models

Capable of giving the most cutting-edge hypercars on earth a serious run for their money, the 3-Eleven can reportedly lap the Nurburgring’s Nordschleife track in under seven minutes.

It’s not just fast but agile too, courtesy of Lotus’ lightweighting, plus independent double wishbone suspension with Ohlins shocks and adjustable anti-roll bars.

The cabin is predictably sparse, with features like a digital display which records your performance data via GPS and a passenger seat in the Road model only, though you’d better invest in a good helmet as there’s no windscreen.

Available to order now, the Lotus 3-Eleven is restricted to a limited-production number of just 311 vehicles, and first deliveries are expected to start from March onwards.
