Mercedes-Benz announces pricing for new GLE Coupe

The new ‘coupe-like’ premium SUV starts from £72,530.

Mercedes-Benz has announced the prices for its bold-looking new GLE Coupe, which acts as the largest ‘coupe’ SUV in the range.

Offering a sleeker look than the regular GLE through its sloping roofline, the new Coupe is available with the choice of one diesel and one powerful petrol engine from launch.

Pricing starts from £72,530 for the GLE Coupe in ‘400d’ form, which uses a 335bhp 3.0-litre in-line six diesel engine that enables a top speed of 149mph, as well as a 0-60mph time of 5.5 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz also offers a new mild-hybrid AMG GLE 53 version, too, which uses a 429bhp, 3.0-litre straight-six petrol engine that’s capable of a 0-60mph time of 5.1 seconds, as well as a top speed of 155mph.

It’s available in just one high-spec trim, known as AMG Line Premium Plus. Standard equipment is very generous, and includes 22-inch alloy wheels, a Burmester sound system and a panoramic sunroof to name but a few highlights.

The ‘53’ model adds adaptive AMG suspension into the mix, along with revised 22-inch alloy wheels and a revised bodykit to highlight its performance credentials.

Unlike the regular GLE, the Coupe is a strict five-seater, with order books now open and first deliveries expected in the summer of 2020.

A new plug-in hybrid – badged as the GLE 350 de – will also join the line-up next year, while further versions of the Coupe are likely, including an even more powerful AMG version.
