Mercedes-Benz announces pricing for the last of the SLC roadsters

The Final Edition is the last hurrah version of the once-popular two-seat SLC.

Mercedes-Benz has announced the pricing for the SLC Final Edition as the curtain closes on this convertible sports car.

Announced earlier this year as the last version of the SLC, the Final Edition is on sale now, with prices starting from £37,120. All versions come in the exclusive colour of Sun Yellow.

It’s available in two grades – Final Edition or Final Edition Premium.

The regular Final Edition comes as standard with 18-inch alloy wheels, heated seats, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as more premium touches like electrically adjustable seats and steering column.

An additional £3,795 buys you the ‘Premium’ version, which adds a reversing camera, LED headlights, a panoramic roof and a wind deflector to name but a few features – meaning these versions start from £40,915.

Three engines are available from launch, with the SLC 200 and SLC 300 featuring 2.0-litre units replacing 181bhp and 242bhp respectively.

Those looking for a bit more power can choose the AMG 43 version, which uses a 3.0-litre biturbo V6 petrol engine, which produces 385bhp. It’s also able to accelerate from 0-60mph in just 4.5 seconds, and reaches an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph.

All but the SLC 200 feature a nine-speed automatic transmission, with that variant using a six-speed manual gearbox as standard.

Order books are now open, with first deliveries expected in early Spring 2020.

When production of the model ceases next year, it will be the end of nearly a quarter of a century of compact two-seat Mercedes-Benz sports cars – the SLK launching in 1996, before being renamed to the SLC in 2016.
