MG GS crossover to cost from £14,995

Prices have been announced for the MG GS crossover, starting from a competitive £14,995, several thousand pounds less than a Nissan Qashqai, but more expensive than the £13k SsangYong Tivoli.

Designed and engineered in Longbridge, Birmingham, the GS has a 163bhp petrol engine with either a six-speed manual or 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox, a first of its kind for MG. It can accelerate from 0-62mph in 9.6 seconds, tow a trailer weighing up to 1,750kg and emits between 139 and 141g/km of CO2

Trim levels will include Explore with standard cruise control, auto headlamps and air-con, Excite (from £17,495) adding DAB radio, Bluetooth and rear parking sensors.

Choice of trim levels

The top Exclusive version costs from £19,495 for the manual, or £20,995 for the auto and includes leather seats with electric adjustment and an iGO sat-nav.

Matthew Cheyne, Head of Sales and Marketing for MG, said: "This is a great day for us, as we can finally share the information so many people have wanted to know. The MG GS is competitive in many ways and we are confident it will do well in the SUV market.

"This car offers so much for comparatively little, making it the SUV to choose. The specification on these cars is phenomenal and when you add in the five year warranty it’s a no-brainer.

"Really great features"

He added: "There are some really great features as well, such as the adjustable rear seats that not only recline but fold completely flat making it adaptable for whatever the customer’s lifestyle."
