Mini announces new ‘GP Pack’ for John Cooper Works hot hatch

The new package brings the looks of the hot GP model for the regular sporty Mini

Mini has launched a new special ‘GP Pack’ to add sportier looks to its John Cooper Works (JCW) hatch.

Not to be confused with the limited-edition hardcore JCW GP - of which 3,000 will be produced - this new optional package aims to bring some of the cool styling of the limited-run version to the regular Mini Hatch JCW.

Available from July, the new GP Pack is a factory-fitted options bundle that gives some extra street cred to this hot hatch. Models come painted in the same Racing Grey colour as the GP, along with a ‘Melting Silver’ roof.

Other cues include a black bonnet scoop, black door handles and a black fuel lid, and while the 18-inch alloy wheels are the same design as the standard JCW, they now feature GP centre caps. It also gains darkened lights and a black logos on the bonnet and tailgate – as well as GP door plagues.

While this pack doesn’t include the stripped-out interior that you’d find in the regular GP, it comes with unique leather sports seats, with GP logos on them, as well as on the floor mats, too.

The changes are purely cosmetic, though given the JCW features a 228bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine that can accelerate the model to 60mph in just 6.1 seconds, it’s hardly lacking in performance.

No UK pricing has yet been announced for the new pack, but expect it to be announced later this month.
