More than half of UK motorists sing while driving

Half of UK motorists practice their singing behind the wheel, according to a recent survey.

According to a recent survey by Insurance Revolution, almost two-thirds of UK motorists admit to singing while behind the wheel.

The survey quizzed 2,000 UK drivers on their singing habits and found that a massive 62 per cent of them claim that they regularly sing while driving.

25-34 year olds love a sing-song

Of those surveyed, drivers aged 25-34 came out on top as the most musical generation, with 72 per cent of those claiming to be singing motorists.

This was followed by 65 per cent of those aged 35-43 and half of those aged 55 and over.

Drivers in Northern Ireland are the most musical

Some regions, however, are more popular than others when it comes to singing while driving. Drivers from Northern Ireland were found to be the most melodic with 67 per cent of them admitting that they rehearse behind the wheel.

Singing behind the wheel can be great fun for both the driver and their passengers, so long as it is done in a safe manner. Mark Rigby, Managing Director of Insurance Revolution stressed the importance of safety while singing behind the wheel:

“There is nothing wrong with singing in the car, as long as you are in full in control of the vehicle and concentrating on the road.

“Singing can distract you and could cause you to lose control of your car even for a short period of time, which can put others on the road in danger.”
