Most powerful Range Rover to star in New York

Details on the Range Rover SVAutobiography have been released. This new range-topping version of the large SUV boasts even more power and luxury than any previous specification.

The most powerful and luxurious version of the latest Range Rover has been revealed, called the SVAutobiography. Due to go on sale this summer, this new version of the Range Rover will be priced from £148,900.

The Range Rover SVAutobiography will make its first public appearance later this week at the 2015 New York Motor Show. It replaces the Autobiography Black as the range-topping specification in the luxury SUV’s range.

Under the bonnet, the SVAutobiography uses the same 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine found in the Range Rover Sport SVR, but it has been re-tuned to deliver even more power. The total output in fact is increased from 503bhp to 543bhp. This unit, which is the most powerful ever seen for the Range Rover SUV, is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Other engines available with the Range Rover SVAutobiography will include the SDV6 diesel-electric hybrid and the SDV8 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged diesel.

Exterior styling changes for this new version of the Range Rover includes a redesigned front grille, quad tailpipes and a two-tone paint job. The top half of the SUV is painted in Santorini Black, while the bottom half can be finished in one of nine selectable colours.

The interior is also the most luxurious seen in a production Range Rover, with standard features including a chiller compartment, power deployable tables and incorporated coat hooks.

The boot has also been redesigned and now features ‘Event Seating’ which are stowed within the luggage department. This can be deployed to provide seating to two adults on the lower part of the tailgate.

The Range Rover SVAutobiography will be available to customers with either a standard or long wheelbase. This new specification follows the arrival of the Land Rover Discovery Sport earlier this year and will launch in the same season as the facelifted Range Rover Evoque.
