New 2018 Audi Q8 SUV revealed

The coupe-styled SUV is the range-topper for the Q line-up and it comes with a mild-hybrid V6 diesel setup from launch.

Audi has revealed its latest flagship that will top the Q SUV line-up and is packed with the brand’s latest technology and features.

The Q8 is very similar in size to its Q7 sibling, but with a coupe-style body it looks much sportier and comes with just five seats.

It holds much of the design details from the Q8 Sport concept revealed at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show and includes a bold grille surround, a single rear light bar and defined body creases.

From launch, the Q8 is fitted with a mild-hybrid setup in the guise of the Q8 50 TDI, which pairs a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine with a 48V electrical system to produce 282bhp and 600Nm of torque. That power means the Q8 can sprint to 60mph in 6.1 seconds and go on to a top speed of 144mph.

You also get an eight-speed automatic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive, as well as the option of all-wheel steering.

Two further electrically-assisted powertrains will be added next year in the shape of the 45 TDI that has a 227bhp 3.0-litre diesel and the 55 TFSI, which uses a 3.0-litre petrol engine to produce 335bhp. A hybrid e-tron model is also likely to feature in this generation’s lifespan.

When the model goes on sale later this summer, expect at least two trim levels in the shape of the S and Vorsprung edition options. Standard features include LED Matric headlights, 21-inch alloy wheels and adaptive air sport suspension, while the Vorsprung edition adds Valcona leather upholstery, dynamic all-wheel steering, 22-inch alloy wheels and a head-up display.
