Mazda reveals all-new 3

New 2019 Mazda 3 revealed

The latest iteration of the stylish hatchback comes with a concept-inspired design and powertrains with the newest tech from the Japanese brand.

Mazda has taken the covers off the new 3, with the model making its public debut at the 2018 Los Angeles Motor Show.

Inspired by the Kai Concept from the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, the 2019 Mazda3 comes with Mazda’s Kodo design language that is used on both the hatchback and saloon variants.

The hatchback comes with elegant curves on the back-end and a long bonnet, while the saloon features a sleek rear that moulds into the roof-line.

Both body types are based on the SkyActiv-Vehicle architecture, which Mazda says offers great balance. The 3 will be fitted with the latest SkyActiv-X, -G and -D units, that the Japanese manufacturer says ‘provides smooth, responsive throttle control in any driving situation’.

Akira Marumoto, Mazda representative director, president and chief executive officer, said: “The all-new Mazda3 we unveil today begins a new era for Mazda. The next generation of Mazda cars will enhance the value of the car-ownership experience.

“Through these products, we will further raise Mazda’s brand value and work towards our goal of building ever stronger bonds with customers all over the world.”

Since its introduction back in 2003, the Mazda3 has been sold over six million times around the world, and has been a rival to models such as the Ford Focus, Seat Leon and Vauxhall Astra here in the UK.

Mazda will display its new model to the public at the LA Motor Show from November 30 to December 9.
