New Ford Galaxy pricing confirmed

Pricing has been announced for the all-new Ford Galaxy MPV, which is available to order now and starts from £26,445. First deliveries will begin this summer.

From launch, the new Galaxy will be offered with four engines, three trim levels and, for the first time for this car, the choice between front and four-wheel drive. The trims start with Zetec and are followed by Titanium and Titanium X.

The seven-seater Galaxy, which rivals the SEAT Alhambra and Volkswagen Sharan, includes a 2.0-litre diesel engine with outputs of 118bhp, 148bhp and 178bhp. When choosing the 148bhp unit for the Titanium trim, or the 178bhp diesel with Titanium X trim, customers can choose to switch from standard front-wheel drive to four-wheel drive.

This particular four-wheel drive system can operate at speeds above 18mph and can shift power to the rear wheels when a loss of grip there is detected.

The decision by Ford to make four-wheel drive available for the first time has also been applied recently to the refreshed S-MAX MPV range. The cheapest new Ford Galaxy with four-wheel drive is priced from £31,545.

Also available in the Galaxy’s engine line-up is the all-new 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel with 208bhp that’s available for the Titanium X trim only and costs from £36,145. Petrol engines for the new Galaxy include a 1.5-litre EcoBoost with 158bhp and a 2.0-litre EcoBoost with 237bhp.

A six-speed manual gearbox is standard for most engines, with the exception of the 237bhp EcoBoost and 208bhp bi-turbo diesel which instead use a six-speed PowerShift automatic gearbox.

Standard kit for the Galaxy in Zetec trim includes dual-zone climate control, sport seats and front and rear parking sensors. The Titanium trim, which starts from £28,595, adds a DAB radio, cruise control, sat-nav and some chrome finishes to the exterior. The Titanium X trim, starting from £35,205, includes leather seats, heated front chairs, a power tailgate and a panoramic glass sunroof.
