Jaguar’s XF luxury saloon now comes with the option of four-wheel drive for the first time as part of an update for the new year.
The all-wheel drive XF is available exclusively with the 178bhp 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine and is available to order now, with prices starting from £36,350 and first deliveries due to begin this spring.
Four-wheel drive for the first time
Offering enhanced all-weather performance, the new four-wheel drive XF features the same torque on demand system first launched in the F-TYPE, along with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Power is primarily sent to the rear wheels to preserve the XF’s rear-drive characteristics, but the car’s computer system can transfer torque to the front wheels when required for additional traction.
Equipped with the all-wheel drive powertrain, the XF can go from 0-60mph in 7.9 seconds, meaning that it’s only a marginal 0.2 seconds slower than the rear-drive model despite being 105 kg heavier.
Configurable Dynamics system
Top speed for the four-wheel drive XF clocks in at 138mph, while Jaguar claims that it can also deliver up to 57.7mpg on the combined cycle with CO2 emissions of only 129g/km.
The XF also features Jaguar’s Configurable Dynamics system, which allows drivers to individually tune suspension, steering, throttle and gear change settings via the infotainment system.
Previously available only on range-topping models equipped with V6 engines, Configurable Dynamics also incorporates Adaptive Surface Response to automatically optimise the car for low-grip surfaces.
