Hyundai teased and teased, but at last, we’ve got a look at the all-new production version of the Santa Fe.

The fourth-generation of the compact SUV brings a new look for the model in-line with the latest in Hyundai’s range, while also adding innovative safety technology and an “intuitive, spacious interior”.

The fresh design of the car follows a similar path of last year’s Kona, featuring thin headlights with a trademark Hyundai grille. The South Korean manufacturer describes it as an “athletic, bold look”.

Inside the cabin, a total redesign sees rear visibility up 41 per cent over the outgoing model while offering more leg and headroom in the rear of the car. It hasn’t given much away about interior options for materials, but the released images suggest a brown leather-type upholstery will be on offer.

As for new technologies, the Santa Fe offers rear occupant alert — which notifies the driver if passengers are still in the rear seat when leaving the vehicle — as well as rear cross-traffic collisions-avoidance assist, which detects vehicles behind the car when reversing and applies the brakes automatically.

A range of powertrain options for the SUV will be available in Europe — including two petrol and two diesel engines, with an eight-speed automatic now available. Full specifications will be revealed closer to release.

Hyundai hasn’t confirmed when the Santa Fe will be available in the UK, but production will begin in the second quarter of 2018 with global sales beginning throughout the year.
