New Monte Carlo trim level adds extra style to 2019 Skoda Scala range

The sporty-looking Scala Monte Carlo will premiere at next week’s Frankfurt Motor Show

Skoda has enhanced the line-up of its new Scala family hatchback with the introduction of a new Monte Carlo trim level.

Monte Carlo is a grade that already features on models such as the Fabia and Citigo, and adds a more dynamic look to these models – helping to fill a void left by the absence of a vRS hot hatch version.

Though the sportiness is purely cosmetic, it’s remarkably effective. On the Scala, this grade brings a host of gloss black styling accents – to the LED headlight frames, front grille, wing mirrors and side sills. Black ‘SKODA’ lettering at the rear also helps to give the model a sportier look.

The Monte Carlo also comes as standard with unique 17-inch alloy wheels, with optional 18s (as pictured) improving the look further.

As for the interior, the Scala comes with red and black sports seats in a revised Monte Carlo-specific upholstery, along with carbon-effect interior inserts. A sports steering wheel also features, while red ambient lighting throughout the cabin offers a different feel and look to that found in other Scala variants.

When it joins the line-up later in the year, the Monte Carlo will be the range-topping version of the Scala – sitting above the S, SE and SE L versions. The same range of turbocharged 1.0-litre petrol engines and 1.6-litre diesel engine as the rest of the line-up will be offered with the Monte Carlo.

The Scala Monte Carlo will make its debut next week at the Frankfurt Motor Show, where it will be joined by the Monte Carlo grade version of Skoda’s new compact crossover, the Kamiq.
