New Peugeot e-Traveller electric MPV unveiled

The new EV can seat up to eight and offers a range of up to 143 miles

Peugeot has unveiled a new electric version of its large Traveller MPV.

Based on the Peugeot Expert van, the new e-Traveller can seat eight adults and is capable of travelling up to 143 miles on a single charge.

Following in the footsteps of the e-Expert that was unveiled earlier this month, this new electric MPV will rival the new Mercedes EQV, with Citroen and Vauxhall both likely to launch similar models, too.

Unlike the Expert Van, which is available with either a 50kWh or 75kWh battery, the e-Traveller will just utilise the smaller battery pack – ensuring little sacrifice is made when it comes to interior space.

The e-Traveller is capable of up to 143 miles from a charge and can charge at up to 100kW, allowing it to be charged to 80 per cent in 30 minutes at this maximum rate. The electric motor produces 134bhp and 260Nm of torque, while different drive modes are available to put a cap on the power to maximise the range.

You can choose it in a standard wheelbase (4.95m) and with a long wheelbase (5.3m). With the batteries under the floor, there is no impact on space next to regular diesel versions of the Traveller.

You can choose it with five or eight seats, with the second and third row both removable to allow for up to a remarkable 4,900 litres of room.

It looks more or less the same as the regular version of this MPV, but features a different front grille and revised badges, as well as the more obvious charging flap in the front wing. In the cabin, it comes with a specific head-up display, along with a revised touchscreen and a drive mode selection button.

There is no word on pricing yet, though models are likely to cost more than the comparative diesel version, which starts from £36,330. Sales are set to start later this year.
