New powertrain option joins Citron C5 Aircross line-up

PureTech 130 S&S engine now available with an automatic gearbox for French SUV.

Citroen has bolstered the C5 Aircross range with a new powertrain.

Now available for the SUV is the firm’s PureTech 130 S&S option — a three-cylinder unit producing 128bhp —linked to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. It replaces the outgoing PureTech 180 automatic models, with manual 130 variants remaining on sale.

This new powertrain is available of Flair and Flair+ models — said to the be two most popular in the UK — and can be ordered from today. Production of the model will begin in February, with deliveries to follow in March. Pricing for 130 automatic variants of the Citroen C5 Aircross starts at £28,335.

Other changes made to the range include reductions in the official CO2 figure for some BlueHDi diesel-powered models. Manual BlueHDi 130 cars see a drop to 105g/km from 108g/km, while automatic variants now weigh in at 100g/km rather than the previous 105g/km.

Standard safety equipment on the SUV includes Driver Attention Alert, Highway Driver Assist, and Speed Limit Recognition — which all work towards the car’s four-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
