New SEAT Leon Cupra 300 unveiled, with 296bhp and four-wheel drive

There’s a new hot hatch bad boy in town as SEAT has unveiled the new Leon Cupra 300, the most powerful version of the Leon Cupra yet.

The 300 in the name comes from its uprated output of 300 metric horsepower, or 296bhp to the likes of you and I, while this version also features four-wheel drive for the first time ever.

There’s one caveat: four-wheel drive is available only on the ST Cupra estate version, while both the three- and five-door hatchback options retain the same front-wheel drive setup as before.

Still, all that power going through the front wheels isn’t to be sniffed at. As well as the 10bhp power increase, the Cupra 300 has had its torque output boosted from 350Nm to 380Nm.

SEAT says this drastically improves the responsiveness of the car, while drivers can also alter the dynamic capabilities of the Cupra via selectable Drive Profile modes.

Pricing and full specifications for the new SEAT Leon Cupra 300 have yet to be announced, but the car is due to go on sale in the UK next March.
