New Skoda Kodiaq SUV: First full pictures, pricing and specs

The new Skoda Kodiaq will be priced from £22,500 and is expected to go on sale in the UK spring 2017.

Skoda has officially unveiled its hotly-anticipated new Kodiaq SUV, which is expected to go on sale in the UK next spring, priced from around £22,500.

The first large SUV from the Czech manufacturer, the Kodiaq is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB underpinnings and clocks in at 4.7m long, 1.9m wide and 1.7m tall.

Although that makes it merely 40mm longer than the Octavia, Skoda says that the Kodiaq will trounce its rivals in terms of interior space and value for money.

The Kodiaq will also come with the option of seven seats and a maximum boot capacity of 2,065 litres, which Skoda says is the largest currently available on the market for a car of its kind.

In terms of design, the Kodiaq SUV stays close to Skoda’s current design language, with a robust but sporty outline, Skoda’s signature front grille and a choice of 14 different paint finishes.

Inside, the car features large air vents and a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system as standard, plus the option of either fabric seat upholstery or leather and alcantara.

Largest boot space in its class

Three trim levels are available -  S, SE and SE-L - and standard equipment will include the likes of 17-inch alloy wheels and Bluetooth connectivity, along with autonomous emergency braking.

Opting for one of the higher trims will add extras like a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen system and surround view cameras, plus a range of Skoda’s signature ‘simply clever’ features like door edge protectors.

Powering the Kodiaq will be a choice of five different engines, which will include two turbocharged diesels and as many as three petrols, with power outputs ranging from 123bhp to 187bhp.

On sale spring 2017

Fully Euro6-compliant, the Kodiaq also features stop-start as standard, along with a choice of either a six-speed manual gearbox, a six-speed dual-clutch automatic or a seven-speed auto.

Four-wheel drive is optional on certain engines, while Skoda says that the car will be able to return up to 56.5mpg with 131g/km of CO2.

The new Skoda Kodiaq is expected to be on sale from next March or so, but more details, along with full pricing and specs, will be unveiled later this month at the Paris Motor Show.
