New Skoda Superb adds business trim level

Skoda has confirmed an additional trim level for the new 2015 Superb hatchback. It's called SE Business, it will sit in the middle of the trim level line-up and it's aimed mainly at company car drivers.

Skoda has announced an additional trim level for its upcoming new-generation Superb hatchback, called SE Business. This increases the total number of trim levels from launch to five for the new Superb hatchback, which goes on sale in Britain this June.

In terms of positioning, the freshly announced SE Business trim slots in the middle, sitting above both the standard S trim and the SE trim and below SE L Executive and Laurin & Klement.

As the name indicates, the SE Business trim aims to appeal to company car drivers by offering high level of specification, comfort and refinement at an affordable cost.

The SE Business trim is available with diesel engines only, so customers get to pick either a 1.6-litre TDI with 118bhp or a 2.0-litre TDI with 148bhp. Both engines use a manual gearbox as standard but are available with a dual-clutch DSG automatic ‘box as a £1,400 option.

Pricing for the SE Business trim starts at £21,590 when using the 118bhp 1.6-litre diesel and manual gearbox. That’s actually the same price as the Superb SE with the same engine and transmission, even though the SE Business offers more equipment.

Prices are again identical when comparing the other three SE Business specifications with the diesel-run SE equivalents. Therefore, with the 118bhp diesel and DSG, the Superb SE Business will cost £22,990. The 148bhp diesel version of the SE Business starts at £22,090 or £23,490 with the DSG. Unlike the SE, however, the SE Business trim is only available with front-wheel drive.

The SE Business trim carries over all the same equipment which the lower SE trim offers. That means the car includes 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone air conditioning, adaptive cruise control and cornering front fog lights.

Features added by the SE Business trim on top include front and rear parking sensors and a sat-nav system with a 6.5-inch colour touchscreen. This gadget also supports Bluetooth and integration with various smartphone apps via Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink or Google Android Auto. A drive mode selector also comes standard on the new Superb SE Business, which allows drivers to switch between Eco, Sport and Normal driving profiles.
