New Skoda Superb estate revealed

The new Skoda Superb estate has been revealed and will be ready for orders in mid-June before launching in showrooms in September 2015.

The first images and details of the Skoda Superb estate have arrived, ahead of the family car’s appearance at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show this September. Orders are set to begin in mid-June.

The Superb estate will also go on sale this September, just a couple of weeks after the launch of the hatchback version of the new Superb.

Skoda anticipates that the estate version of the new Superb will outsell its hatchback counterpart, as has been the case in Britain with the current generation. Skoda’s new Superb estate sports virtually all the same design updates as its hatchback counterpart, including a distinct redesigned front grille.

Skoda also says the new Superb estate will offer the most interior space and boot space in its segment. Compared to the Superb hatchback the estate is both longer and wider, resulting in extra interior room.

Boot capacity is also increased by 27 litres to 660 litres in total. When the rear seats are folded the total load capacity measures at 1,950 litres.

Engine options for the new Superb estate will include a 1.4-litre petrol with 148bhp, a 118bhp 1.6-litre diesel and a 2.0-litre diesel with 148bhp or 187bhp. If those engines don’t offer enough power to satisfy, there’s also a 2.0-litre petrol offering 217bhp or 276bhp. The 2.0-litre diesel with either of its outputs offers the additional option of four-wheel drive.

Pricing for the new Skoda Superb estate is unconfirmed, but the family car will likely start from about just over £1,000 more than its hatchback counterpart, which costs from £18,640.
