New Toyota Highlander coming to the UK for the first time

Large SUV is now into its fourth generation.

Toyota has announced that its latest Highlander will be available to buy in the UK for the first time.

Now into its fourth generation, the Highlander has previously only been available in North America as well as certain European markets.

This new Highlander will be the first model to go on sale in the UK when it hits the market on January 1, 2021. Powered by a hybrid powertrain, deliveries of the new Highlander are expected to commence in March next year.

Priced from £50,595, the Highlander will be available in two different specifications - Excel and Premium. The former brings 20-inch alloys and a premium sound system, as well as three-zone climate control while the latter adds a head-up display, heated rear seats and a panoramic roof for an extra £1,680.

Though initial details are relatively sparse, Toyota has stated that more information on the Highlander will be announced in the new year.

The firm has also revealed that its new RAV4 plug-in hybrid will go on sale in January priced from £47,395. It brings a hybrid powertrain with 302bhp - making it the most powerful RAV4 to date - yet a larger battery pack ensures it can travel for up to 46 miles on electric power alone.
