New TVR sports car image and details emerge

TVR’s first sports car in over a decade is nearing its public debut and now new details and a teaser image have emerged to build up hype.

As TVR’s comeback with its first sports car in over a decade draws nearer, the reborn British manufacturer has released a new teaser image of its next model plus fresh details on it.

The teaser image shows the outline of the new TVR’s body plus the powertrain which will propel it to a top speed of 200mph. During the Goodwood Revival event earlier this summer, TVR revealed that it will finally reveal its new sports car in full on 8th September.

Before its reveal, TVR has now revealed via its latest image that its first car for its return will have a curvy coupe profile with a lengthy bonnet and sloping roofline.

Some new technical specification details have recently emerged too. TVR says its new sports car will weigh 1,200kg, which is roughly similar to the weight of the Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ. It’s believed that the new TVR will be one of the smallest cars in its class.

It will also have a 0-60mph sprint time of less than four seconds to go along with its 200mph top speed.

Powering the new TVR is a 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine developed by famous British engine builder Cosworth. The exact power output from the V8 is unconfirmed but reports estimate it will produce around 480bhp.

When the new TVR sports car arrive, 500 Launch Edition cars will be produced for early customers. TVR says it will soon stop taking orders for its new car prior launch but order books will reopen after the car’s public debut.

While exact pricing is unconfirmed, the new TVR is set to cost significantly more than other cars from the brand’s history as the manufacturer did reveal that Launch Editions would be “offered at under £90,000”.
