New upgrades introduced to 2018 Ford Mustang

The muscle car now comes with a performance exhaust with the 2.3-litre Ecoboost and rev-matching for the 5.0-litre V8 model.

Ford has released a series of additional upgrades to the 2018 Mustang to “enhance performance and driving experience”.

Customers choosing the 2.3-litre Ecoboost version can now spec the Active Valve Performance Exhaust, so they can choose the loudness of the engine note.

The addition of the exhaust system includes ‘Quiet Mode’, meaning the exhaust can be set at a lower volume during a set period, for example early in the morning or late at night.

Upgrades have been made available to the 5.0-litre V8 as well, with the engine now coming with rev-matching technology. This allows for much smoother gear changes as the system ‘blips’ the throttle on a downshift to match the engine rotation speed to the selected gear. This comes fitted with the 10-speed automatic transmission.

Ford has also added a series of cosmetic options, such as vintage-inspired blue and green paint options, and the Dark Highland Green option first introduced on the Mustang Bullitt special edition model earlier this year.

A Bang & Olufsen 12-speaker, high-performance stereo system has also been introduced, which is controlled by the Sync 3 infotainment system that is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphones.

Prices for the Mustang start from £36,645 for the 2.3-litre Ecoboost and £41,745 for the 5.0-litre V8 model.
