Nissan e-NV200 updated for 2019

Electric van gets new, higher-capacity battery and support for vehicle-to-grid charging.

Nissan’s all-electric e-NV200 van has been updated for 2019, with the headline-grabbing addition of a higher-capacity battery.

Powering the whole affair is a 40kWh power pack which delivers a huge boost in range for the commercial vehicle.

Tested to new Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure standards, Nissan claims the e-NV200 can now cover 124 miles on the combined cycle and, perhaps more relevant for a vehicle designed for inner-city deliveries, 187 miles on the urban city cycle between charges.

Payload remains the same for the van at 705kg, or two Euro pallets.

The Nissan e-NV200 also now supports vehicle-to-grid charging (V2G). V2G allows EV owners to reuse power from their vehicle to provide energy to other applications, ideal for conserving electricity in a business. Although the tech is not yet ready for the UK market, it’s set to launch shortly thanks to Innovate UK, which will provide 2,000 V2G access points.

Gareth Dunsmore, electric vehicle director for Nissan Europe, said:

“The new e-NV200’s blend of practicality, refinement and performance makes it the ideal tool for businesses to carry out their daily activities easily and sustainably, enabling them to maximize their operational efficiency and contribute to a cleaner future.

“With the van fleet size on Europe’s roads growing rapidly due to the ‘Amazon generation’ online ordering, it’s critical that this impact is mitigated by using smart, zero emission last mile delivery vans such as the Nissan e-NV200.”
