Nissan GT-R Nismo gets even sportier

The Nissan GT-R Nismo is receiving mechanical and styling upgrades this summer.

Nissan has revealed details of an updated version of its GT-R Nismo, the most hardcore performance version of the Japanese supercar.

Changes confirmed include a stiffened body structure, updated track-ready suspension and some tweaks to the aerodynamic parts, meaning even greater downforce.

By adding to the car’s rigidity, the engineers behind the GT-R Nismo are now able to beef up other components in the car. For instance, new stiffened coil springs are added, along with Bilstein DampTronic dampers and stronger anti-roll bars.

In terms of styling updates, most of the changes are carried over from the facelifted GT-R. That includes a larger radiator grille for better cooling and a more sculpted bonnet.

The bootlid spoiler, front and rear bumpers and sill extensions of the GT-R Nismo are made out of lightweight carbon fibre, while 20-inch alloy wheels are fitted as standard. The Nismo continues to use a 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine with an output of 592bhp.

Inside, one noticeable difference is the extensive use of Alcantara upholstery. This motorsport-inspired material is found on the steering wheel, dashboard and centre armrest. The Nismo also receives the upgraded infotainment system found in the new 2017 model year GT-R.

The updated Nissan GT-R Nismo will reportedly go on sale next week and although prices haven’t been confirmed yet, it’s likely to start from around £125,000.
