SEAT has unveiled official pricing and specs for the updated version of the rowdy Ibiza Cupra hot hatch.
Priced from £18,100, the new Ibiza Cupra is actually £880 cheaper than the outgoing model, despite a wide range of improvements which include a new and more powerful 1.8-litre engine.
The same engine used in the Volkswagen Polo GTi, the new turbocharged unit replaces the older supercharged 1.4-litre engine boosting output by 12bhp to a maximum of 189bhp.
New engine and manual gearbox
Torque has also been boosted by a fairly significant 70Nm up to 320Nm, and the potent little Ibiza Cupra is now able to print from 0-62mph in just 6.7 seconds, with a top speed of 146mph.
Also new is a six-speed manual gearbox which replaces the outgoing DSG dual-clutch transmission, along with larger front brakes, plus SEAT’s Cupra Drive Profile function to adjust dampers and steering.
The car has also received an exterior update, with new lines and edges to accentuate its rakish attitude, exclusive 17-inch alloys and broader bumpers alongside a matt-black rear diffuser.
Fresh looks, updated interior
Inside, the new Ibiza Cupra gets a higher quality interior with a new steering wheel, instrument panel and infotainment system, plus Cupra front sports seats, climate control and cruise control.
Also included are bi-xenon headlamps with cornering lights, LED daytime running lights and rear lights, alongside an XDS differential lock for increased traction and tinted rear windows.
For an extra £800, buyers can also choose the range-topping Cupra Black version, which adds an extra £1,000 worth of equipment like black alloys with red brake calipers and sat-nav.
