Order books open for new Volkswagen Transporter van - starting at £21,635

The new T6.1 model offers updated technology and more standard equipment.

Volkswagen has announced that order books for its improved Transporter T6.1 van, which has been facelifted and updated with new tech as part of this mid-life revamp.

While full pricing will be announced in November, Volkswagen has announced that its best-selling commercial vehicle will start from £21,635.

It will be available in two trim levels – Startline and Highline, while a Sportline version will follow later.

It continues to be offered with a host of different weights and bodysizes, while the T6.1 gains new crosswind assist and lane-keep assist functions, as well as a host of optional kit – park assist, for example.

It also now comes fitted with a touchscreen as standard, along with App Connect, which allows for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring. New optional features such as 10.25-inch digital dials are a first on the model, too.

As was the case previously, the Transporter will be offered as a conventional van (the most popular variant) along with Kombi, which gains a set of rear seats. There is also the Shuttle, which can have between five and nine seats and is designed as an ideal people mover. At the top of the range is the Caravelle, which is the most luxurious variant of the Transporter.
