Order books open for Peugeot 208 and e-208

French supermini can now be ordered, with prices starting from £16,250 for petrol variants.

Order books have now opened for the much-anticipated Peugeot 208 and its electric sibling, the e-208.

Prices for petrol variants of the car kick off from £16,250, while the EV is available from £25,050 after the Government’s plug-in car grant.

Three trims are available for both cars — Active, Allure and GT-Line spec. The e-208 is also available in range-topping GT guise.

Standard equipment across the board includes a multi-function steering wheel, a head-up display and a seven-inch colour infotainment system. A 10-inch screen is also available on higher specification cars.

Engines available in the regular 208 include a petrol 1.2-litre that can be had in three states of tune, alongside a 1.5-litre diesel option. A six-speed manual gearbox or eight-speed automatic transmission can also be selected.

As for the e-208, that’s powered by an electric motor producing 136bhp, with a 50kWh battery that allows for up to 211 miles between charging. It also supports 100kWh rapid charging, meaning the battery can be replenished from flat to 80 per cent in under 30 minutes.

A ‘charging pass’ will be included at purchase too, allowing for a limited time of free access to select charging points throughout the UK.

First deliveries of the Peugeot 208 and e-208 are expected to begin early in 2020.
