Peugeot announces hybrid line-up coming in 2019

With two hybrid powertrains built, Peugeot announces that the 3008, 508 and 508 SW will be getting the systems in next autumn.

Peugeot has unveiled a new range of hybrid powertrains, which will be used in three models from next year.

The 508, 508 SW and 3008 will be offered with the plug-in hybrid powertrains, which will come with a petrol engine paired to an electric motor.

The ‘Hybrid’ and ‘Hybrid4’ power options share four modes – electric, sport, comfort and hybrid – while the latter powertrain comes with a four-wheel drive mode. The system also includes energy conservation methods in an effort to maximise range.

Each unit offers up to 30 miles of all-electric range and is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission that has been adapted to work with electric systems.

The electrical system can be recharged in under two hours by using Peugeot’s 6.6kW wallbox, with the charging port surrounded by lights to inform the driver of how much charge the car has.

For the 508 and 508 SW, Peugeot teams a 178bhp PureTech petrol with a 108bhp electric motor to combine for 223bhp when working together, while the 3008 comes with a more powerful 198bhp petrol unit to produce 296bhp when teamed with the electric motor.

Peugeot has even adapted the i-Cockpit setup to include hybrid-specific features to make switching driving modes easier and view efficiency statistics.

The Hybrid4 unit will only come with the GT trim when it is released, with the standard Hybrid being introduced later.

All of the powertrains will be implemented by autumn 2019.
