French manufacturer Peugeot has taken the covers off its next generation 508 saloon, which carries over many design features from the brand’s latest SUV models.

The saloon also takes many exterior design aspects from coupes, and Peugeot has combined those two ideologies to create a fastback with sharp lines that still offers plenty of interior space.

Integrated into the front end are LED headlights that connect the two-tiered grille and at the rear are Peugeot’s signature ‘claw’ rear LED lights.

The sharp exterior look is combined with the i-Cockpit interior layout, which includes a leather steering wheel, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display – which sits higher up than normal binnacles – and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The 508 will be fitted with one of six engine/transmission combinations, with both petrol and diesel engines on offer. Power options will vary from 128bhp to 222bhp.

It will get its full public reveal at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show that runs from March 6 to 18.

Jean-Philippe Imparato, CEO of Peugeot, said: “The all-new PEUGEOT 508 is finally here. After the success of our latest high profile launches and our SUV offensive with the 2008, 3008 and 5008 SUVs, with the all-new PEUGEOT 508 we carry the exact same ambition; to shake up the market with an outstanding new car that can compete with the best.

“The all-new Peugeot 508 is a perfect example of the ambition that we embody in everything that we do; continuing to establish Peugeot as the best ‘high-end generalist’ car manufacturer in the market.”

Peugeot will be opening the order books for the new 508 this summer.
