Peugeot updates 308 with new trim levels and technology

The stylish hatchback and estate has received a mid-life update

Peugeot has revised its 308 hatchback with new technology, design tweaks and trim levels.

The 308 has been around since 2013 in its current guise, and was last updated in 2017 with a more striking design and new engine choice. This latest update aims to keep the 308 fresh, with the main change being the introduction of a fully digital ‘i-Cockpit’ digital instrument panel – as seen on Peugeot’s latest models, such as the new 208.

In terms of styling, the 308 is now available with a new ‘Vertigo Blue’ colour, along with diamond-cut 16-inch alloy wheels. Top-spec 308s can also be specified with a ‘Black Pack’, which replaces all chrome trim with a gloss black finish – such as the Peugeot badge, front grille and door mirrors.

Peugeot will reduce the number of trims to three on the 308, which are yet to be confirmed, though buyers can choose a ‘Premium’ pack on all versions which brings additional standard kit.

The engine choice remains the same, with buyers having the option of a 1.2-litre petrol engine with 108bhp or 128bhp, or a 1.5-litre diesel with 99bhp or 128bhp. Peugeot will continue to offer a sporty GTI hot hatch, which utilises a 259bhp 1.6-litre petrol unit.

Full pricing and specifications are yet to be announced, but expect a slight increase over the 308’s current £21,660 starting tag.
