Porsche adds plug-in hybrid to Panamera Sport Turismo range

The estate version of the Panamera gets a plug-in hybrid option that has a combined 670bhp at its disposal

Porsche has revealed a plug-in hybrid version of the new Panamera Sport Turismo, which includes the same all-wheel drive system as that found on the 918 Spyder hypercar.

The Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo has a 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged engine that is combined with an electric motor under the bonnet to produce 670bhp and 850Nm of torque. That power setup is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

With the arrangement of petrol and electric power, the Sport Turismo can get from 0-60mph in 3.3 seconds and on to a top speed of 192mph.

The all-electric part of the powertrain can be used for 30 miles before each charge, and with both systems used in tandem, drivers can achieve 94mpg. Emissions are also very good, with the Sport Turismo emitting just 69g/km CO2.

The battery system takes between 2.5 and six hours to charge to full depending on the electrical output and can get you up to a speed of 87mph on its own.

But with this being an estate, practicality is also at the forefront of the design, with their being a large boot opening, a low loading edge, more rear space and a 4+1 seat layout, which allows for maximum adaptability.

The exterior design includes active aerodynamics to maintain stability at a higher speed, with an adaptive spoiler incorporated into the roof line. Meanwhile, the car sits on 21-inch alloys and adaptive suspension.

Inside Porsche offers a customisable interior design with features such as sports seats in the front and rear, and Porsche’s Advanced Cockpit, which allows you to control all the car’s settings and features via a large touch-sensitive panel and screen.

Although prices for the UK are yet to be announced, German prices start from €188,592 and the E-Hybrid Sport Turismo is available to order now.
