Porsche executive trash-talks Tesla: ‘The seats suck’

Porsche is busy planning to topple Tesla with a production version of the beautiful Mission E Concept, and execs have already started the WWE-style smack talk.

According to Automobile mag, a Porsche executive who wished to go unnamed hit out at the Californian electric car manufacturer, trashing its cars and its much-talked about ‘Ludicrous Mode’.

The executive claimed that the Ludicrous Mode, which can boost Tesla's electric cars to supercar levels of acceleration, is mostly an unusable gimmick and the Mission E will be far superior.

"The seats will not suck"

They said “The thing about Ludicrous Mode is that it’s a façade. Two launches saps the whole battery. That won’t be the case with the Mission E.

“You’ll be able to run it hard, over and over; the battery will not overheat, the power control module will not overheat, and the seats will not suck.”

Oooh, feel the burn! However, fighting talk aside the executive also unveiled some other juicy details about the Mission E, namely that its twin electric motors will produce more than 600bhp.

600bhp with 300-mile range

The production version of the Mission E will also be able to cover the 0-62mph sprint in around 3.5 seconds but will have a range of more than 300 miles, putting it well on par with the P90D Model S.

Another anonymous Porsche engineer said that it would be “a true Porsche through and through”, leading some to speculate that its battery packs will sit behind the rear axle like a 911’s engine.

There’s still no word exactly when the production version of the Porsche Mission E will be out or what it will look like, but judging by Porsche’s comments Tesla had better watch its back…
