Pricing and specifications announced for new BMW iX3 EV SUV

The new iX3 is the firm’s first electric SUV, rivalling the Audi e-tron and Mercedes EQC

BMW has announced prices and specifications for the new electric iX3 SUV – its second EV following on from the i3.

Rivalling the Audi e-tron and Mercedes EQC in the competitive electric SUV class, the iX3 comes with an electric motor producing 282bhp, along with an 80kWh battery offering up to 279 miles of range – more than that in the Audi and Mercedes. It will also be able to charge at up to 150kW, which means the battery can be charged to 80 per cent in just 34 minutes.

The iX3 will be the first BMW to be offered with four different types of powertrain, with this electric model sitting alongside petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid models.

You’ll be able to choose in two specifications – Premier Edition and Premier Edition Pro.

Prices start from £61,900 for the Premier Edition, which comes generously equipped – including 20-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof and electric tailgate to name but a few.

Upgrade to the ‘Pro’ model, which is available from £64,900, and this adds a head-up display, self parking functionality and a sound system developed with legendary German composer Hans Zimmer.

Pre-orders for the new iX3 are now open, with first UK deliveries not expected until summer 2021.
