Pricing and specs revealed for Hyundai KONA Electric

Battery-powered variant of South Korean crossover is available from £29,495 — before the £4,500 plug-in car grant is applied.

Looking to buy a Hyundai KONA Electric? Well, good news, as pricing and specs for the EV have today been confirmed.

The electric crossover will be available to order online later this year with prices starting at £29,495 — and that’s before the government’s £4,500 plug-in car grant is applied, meaning you could pay as little as £24,995.

For that price, you can have a KONA Electric SE 39kWh, coming with 17-inch alloy wheels, rear parking sensors with a camera too and a seven-inch display that boasts DAB radio and support for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Next up is the Electric Premium 39kWh — bringing privacy glass, a larger eight-inch display and an eight-speaker audio system to the table. It’s available from £30,870 before the grant.

Topping the range is the KONA Electric Premium 64kWh that not only brings full LED headlights to the table but also a 300-mile range between charges. Pricing for this model begins at £36,295 pre-grant.

Tony Whitehorn, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor UK, said “KONA Electric has already attracted a phenomenal level of interest from customers across the globe and we are expecting demand to be high with limited vehicle availability.

“With the 64kWh offering a potential 300-mile range, KONA Electric will not only appeal to customers who are already familiar with battery electric technology but perhaps more importantly, will enable some customers to take the step into electric vehicles by not only removing range anxiety but by doing so with a stylish, technically advanced and affordable package.”
