Honda has confirmed pricing for a new diesel-powered Civic, which also features a six-speed manual gearbox.
Set to hit dealerships in February, the new engine is a 1.6-litre unit that develops 118bhp and 300Nm of torque. As for efficiency, fuel economy is claimed at 78.5mpg with CO2 emissions of 93g/km.
An automatic gearbox option will join the diesel range in summer.
Trim levels for the new engine will mirror those on the existing 1.0-litre petrol engine, meaning S, SE, SR and EX models will be on offer. This means standard equipment includes LED daytime running lights, a fabric interior, hill start assist, idle stop and dusk-sensing headlights.
EX models can also have an optional Tech Pack for £600, which adds LED headlights with washers, LED fog lights, wireless phone charging and heated rear seats.
Phil Webb, head of car at Honda UK, said:
“The arrival of the diesel variant completes the line-up for the Civic hatchback in the UK.
“This 1.6 i-DTEC is the most technologically-advanced diesel unit we have launched to market and will deliver a very competitive offering for both the retail customer and the fleet market.”
Prices for the new diesel-powered Honda Civic hatchback begin at £20,120.
