Range Rover Evoque Convertible to make public bow soon

The Range Rover Evoque convertible will make its first official public appearance this November.

Land Rover has confirmed that the long-awaited Range Rover Evoque convertible will be officially revealed to the public this November.

Online reports suggest the Evoque convertible will make its public bow at the Los Angeles Motor Show which takes place next month. The convertible luxury crossover will then go on sale sometime during 2016. A more specific release date has yet to have been given, but a better indication may be given during the LA Motor Show.

Reports about Land Rover making a convertible version of the popular Evoque crossover have been around for a few years now. Land Rover has confirmed little up until now, but testing mules have been spotted which suggest the Evoque convertible will use a soft-top roof and will have new styling features at the rear, including a rear-mounted lip spoiler.

This car is a bold new product from Land Rover, since it’ll be the first convertible based on a luxury crossover to be sold in Britain. Therefore, there will be very little in the way of direct competition, besides arguably the likes of the Audi A5 cabriolet and BMW 4 Series convertible.

To build up hype for the new Evoque convertible, Land Rover has made six full-scale mock-ups of the car made out of computer-modelled aluminium wires. These ‘wireframe’ sculptures were recently displayed in numerous locations across London.

According to Land Rover, they were produced to “give the public a chance to see how the Evoque Convertible will look in its natural urban environment.”

The new Range Rover Evoque convertible will be built at the Jaguar Land Rover plant in Halewood. Here it will join the rest of the Evoque range on the production line, as well as the Land Rover Discovery Sport.
