Renault Kadjar details announced

Specification details have been revealed for the all-new Renault Kadjar crossover, which has made its public debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The Kadjar will arrive to British showrooms in the autumn.

Larger than Renault’s previous crossover entry, the Clio-based Captur, the Kadjar will rival the likes of the Nissan Qashqai, Skoda Yeti and the Kia Sportage.

From launch, the Renault Kadjar will be offered with three engines, front and four-wheel drive powertrains, plus manual and automatic transmissions. Every engine for the Kadjar will come standard with stop-start technology, aving fuel when the car is idling.

The engines include a 1.5-litre dCi diesel with 110bhp, a 1.6-litre diesel with 130bhp and a 1.2-litre TCe petrol also producing 130bhp. In its most frugal guise the Kadjar returns an official average fuel economy of 74.3mpg and CO2 emissions of just 99g/km. That means the Renault can match the latest Nissan Qashqai in offering a specification with free Vehicle Excise Duty.

When using four-wheel drive, the Kadjar can utilise different driving modes, including two-wheel drive only, permanent four-wheel drive and a setting which can automatically switch between the two depending on the road conditions. Two-wheel drive versions of the new Renault are supported with an Extended Grip traction control system.

Other driving aids available for the Renault Kadjar, depending on trim choice, will include park assist, a rear parking camera and 360-degree parking sensors. Luxury kit for the Kadjar will include Renault’s latest upgraded infotainment device, called R-Link 2, with a seven-inch touchscreen. This gadget will support numerous travel, news and social media apps, as well as voice recognition commands.

Pricing and specification details for the new Renault Kadjar will be confirmed at a closer time to the crossover’s launch date.
