Renault previews new Scenic MPV

Renault has given the public their first real opportunity to see what the new Scenic family car looks like.

Renault has released images of the next-generation Scenic family car ahead of its public debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.

Crossover-inspired look

This new Scenic is the fourth-generation of the famous MPV and its face is now very similar to other modern Renaults, particularly the Captur and Kadjar crossovers. Like current crossovers, the Renault Scenic now has some SUV-like styling touches around the exterior.

In fact, the new Renault is reminiscent of the Scenic XMOD, a more rugged derivative of the current MPV which features new and tougher body panels and driving aids for handling low grip surfaces.

At the same time, the low roofline which curves at the rear does give the new Scenic an almost coupe-like profile. Other highlights of the new Scenic’s design include the 20-inch alloy wheels and the wider front and rear tracks.

The latter point allows the car to be larger and have more ground clearance while maintaining a stable ride. Also worth noting are the C-shaped headlights that are fully LED.

Not much else has been confirmed about the new Renault Scenic at the moment. More is bound to be revealed though when the MPV is presented at the Geneva Motor Show on 1 March. It will be presented by Renault’s CEO, Carlos Ghosn, and the French manufacturer’s head of design, Laurens van den Acker.
