Renault reveals refreshed Kadjar ahead of Paris debut

The facelifted version of the mid-size crossover comes with new engines, all-wheel drive and an altered design

After debuting back in 2015, Renault has given the Kadjar an update with new power units, refreshed design elements and improved comfort.

The mid-size crossover features a new chromed grille, front and rear bumpers, a C-shaped light signature, LED daytime running lights with integrated indicators and LED rear lights.

Depending on the trim level, models also come with chrome detailing on the rear bumper and a shark-fin antenna, as well as more body-coloured panels.

Inside, Renault focused on passenger comfort and ergonomics, as well as making the central touchscreen brighter and easier to use – with the seven-inch unit now inset in the dashboard – and improving the air conditioning controls and trim finishing.

Under the bonnet, Renault has teamed up with Alliance partner Nissan and Daimler to create a 1.3-litre petrol engine that comes in two states of tune – 138bhp and 158bhp – which offers improved efficiency and performance, while two diesel power options come in the form of the Blue dCi 115 and 150, each offering 113bhp and 148bhp respectively.

Nissan’s expertise has also helped with the four-wheel drive system being used on the new Kadjar, which comes in three operating modes – 2WD, Auto and Lock, with the latter used for pure off-roading.

Olivier Tschanhenz, Renault deputy marketing director, said: “Launched in 2015, Kadjar is a core vehicle in the Renault range, a global model already chosen by more than 450,000 customers in over fifty countries.

“New Kadjar will consolidate this position through a more modern, stylish design, improved comfort and better perceived quality. At the same time, it will build on its 4WD offering, since this sets it apart in the market.”

Full pricing and specification for the UK market will be revealed in due course.
